How this estimate works
The estimate uses a published consumption-style formula: (tile length + tile width) ÷ (length × width) × filled depth × joint width × density factor = kg per m². All tile dimensions and joint measurements are in millimeters.

Quick answers
What is the density factor?
This is a product-specific consumption constant. The default 1.6 is illustrative and appears in MAPEI consumption data for certain grouts, but other products use different factors.
Does tile thickness equal grout depth?
Not necessarily. Enter the actual depth the grout will fill. Different installation systems can change effective joint depth.
Why is the result only an estimate?
Joint shape, spacers, mosaic patterns, product composition and installation losses affect grout usage. Check your manufacturer’s chart.
